Why Only Guna Matching is Not Enough for Kundali Matching
The future of a partnership between two people united in a bond of love, cannot be forseen by anyone. No one can provide a fool proof guarantee for the success of any marriage. However, the science of astrology does come very much in handy to both families who are eager to ensure that the couple would be compatible and happy with each other. It has been a part of Indian culture and societal norms to check the marriage horoscopes of both prospective partners before going ahead with the decision of marriage.
It is in this context that one hears the words Guna matching. The most common method of compatibility is the Ashtakoot guna milan. 36 Gunas are the aspects that need to be considered by comparing the horoscopes of the bride and groom to ascertain their compatibility with each other. If 18 out of 36 gunas in both the marriage horoscopes, marriage would be fruitful, otherwise not.
However, this is not such a simple and straightforward equation to judge a partnership. The process of guna matching is to be used as a guideline only. There are many other factors that need to be considered to make it a more comprehensive approach and analysis.
Vedic astrology deals with the issue of compatibility in this way by taking a deep dive into the kundali – checking horoscope, rashi, nakshatra, charan and panchang.
Rashis determine the wavelength compatibility:
It is the rashis or signs of both individuals that shed light on their personality. It is far easier if people are of the same wavelength. This helps them to get along with each other easier.
- Rashis are grouped according to their tattwa or elements. For example, Agni (fire) and Jal (water) rashi are incompatible whereas Agni (fire) and Vayu (wind) are compatible. So, Leo being a agni sign would be incompatible with scorpio which is a water sign but more of a personality match with gemini which is a wind sign.
Such people share common interests and complementary personality traits, are more likely to be interested in each other.
7th house is a key indicator of marital happiness:
- The 7th house in a person’s online janam kundali is the significator of marriage. The position of this house and its lord are critical. This house must not be under the influence of any malefic planets. The relation of the 1st and 7th house are checked. The natural and temporal relationship between the ascendant and the 7th house ruling lords, shows the status of the understandings and relationship between the bride and the groom.
Placement of planets prediction marriage outcomes:
- Position of mangal or Mars is checked in the horoscope to see if either of the partners are manglik. Mars placed in the 1st , 4th, 7th, 8th, 10, and 12th house indicates manglik dosh. Such a person can marry only another manglik. They are of high stress temperament, and would not be compatible with other personality types. Auspicious placement of planets like Guru (Jupiter) and Shukra (Venus) forecast good outcomes in marriage. Venus is the karak graha of the 7th house and Jupiter is termed to be the karak graha of husband.
Formation of specific yogas are clues for marital happiness:
- The formation of Mrityu Shadashtak yoga indicates a lot of marriage issues, problems & enemity. It is a clear indicator of incompatibility whereas Navpanchami yoga indicates very good compatibility.
Thus, a comprehensive analysis is always more practical than just one calculation of compatibility. Kundali matching prediction have to be seen from many angles. Blind faith on only guna milan, is not recommended.
